Leadership begins from within. That is the core belief behind Giombetti Associates’ immersive three-day training program, Giombetti YOU-niversity. Often referred to by its nickname, GA-YOU, the experience is designed to challenge participants to examine their personal patterns, deepen their self-awareness and leave with renewed purpose, focus and impact. It is, in short, a three-day journey that lasts a lifetime.
Hosted several times a year at The Delaney House in Holyoke, Massachusetts, the program runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Though originally called the Three-Day Leadership Training Program, its mission remains unchanged: to deliver a powerful, transformational experience that lasts well beyond the event.
Giombetti YOU-niversity is not about adding more leadership theory to your toolkit. It centers on cultivating emotional intelligence and self-awareness—qualities that drive lasting, sustainable change. Participants are encouraged to recognize that while work and life are often separated, personal challenges inevitably show up in professional spaces. This program offers a space to address both.
From new managers to senior executives, GA-YOU provides insights and tools to help individuals shift from managing to leading with intention.
Laying the Groundwork
Prior to the training, each participant completes the Performance Dynamics® assessment, which identifies 17 traits that influence how people interact with the world. These results are then discussed in a one-on-one feedback session with a Giombetti coach, and when possible, a leader or HR partner. Conducted either virtually or in person for those near Wilbraham, these sessions focus on understanding personal strengths, growth areas and how those traits play out in leadership settings.
Inside the Program
GA-YOU explores the inner dimensions of leadership. Through facilitated conversations, structured activities and individual feedback, participants examine how their personalities shape their behavior and relationships.
Key topics include:
- Leadership styles
- Communication and active listening
- Conflict resolution
- Vulnerability and authenticity
- Influence and interpersonal dynamics
- Constructive feedback and team engagement
A highlight of the program is the peer-to-peer feedback session, which participants frequently describe as one of the most impactful elements of their experience.
Business casual attire is recommended, and jeans are welcome. Giombetti provides a light breakfast and lunch each day. Participants are encouraged to bring a notebook, a pen and an open mindset.
Carrying the Work Forward
What happens after the program is just as important as what happens during it. Sustaining personal growth requires intention and consistency. Participants are encouraged to maintain their momentum through several strategies:
Use visual cues
Sticky notes, digital reminders and whiteboard messages can help reinforce new habits and support focus on meaningful priorities.
Create accountability
Having someone to check in with—a colleague, coach or trusted friend—can help participants stay aligned with their goals and continue their growth.
Reflect in writing
Journaling allows individuals to track progress, recognize wins and reflect on challenges. Over time, it becomes a valuable record of personal development.
Seek feedback regularly
Asking for input from others promotes self-awareness and supports ongoing growth. Leaders who listen with openness are more likely to evolve effectively.
Watch for early warning signs
It is easy to slide back into old patterns. Often, those around you will notice before you do. If coworkers seem distant or begin excluding you from discussions, it may signal a shift in your behavior. These small changes are worth paying attention to.
Another red flag is becoming “too busy” to reflect. When life speeds up, taking time for stillness—whether through a walk, time outdoors or quiet contemplation—can help you realign with your intentions.
If you notice a decline in how others trust your follow-through, it may be time to reassess. Consistency and integrity remain the bedrock of effective leadership.
Keeping the Momentum
Giombetti’s support doesn’t end when the workshop concludes. Coaches reconnect with participants to revisit insights from the assessment and co-create a development plan. When possible, leaders or HR partners are included to support continued growth.
In a fast-paced world, Giombetti YOU-niversity offers a rare opportunity to pause, reflect and reconnect with what matters. The experience creates not just stronger leaders, but more grounded individuals who lead with clarity, confidence and compassion.
